Cinco Dias / Households consume more and save less. According to the INE, the household saving has fallen, with data from the third quarter of 2014, 9.1% of disposable income, the lowest level since late 2008 (using data from the last 12 months ). The household income increased 0.7%, mainly due to the rise in wages of employees, while consumption has grown 2.6%. It is the highest rate for the third quarter also since 2008.
In total, 7,131,000 households have saved in three months, only 4.4% of disposable income between June and September, compared with 6.2% last year. In fact, in this 2014 the second lowest rate SAVINGS for a third quarter in the historical series of INE, surpassed only by 4.3% in 2007. The first and third quarters of each year are marked by a strong register decline in the savings rate, which is offset in the second and fourth.
Overall, the Spanish economy registered a surplus compared to the world of 2.896 million euros in the third quarter of 2014, representing 1.1% of GDP. This figure is 58.2% lower than the estimated 6.932 million euros a year earlier, equivalent to 2.7% of GDP. This lower financing capacity of the Spanish economy had its origin in a worse behavior of both the balance of trade in goods and services (imports grew 7.8% and exports 3.7%), and the income balance and current and capital transfers worldwide
