BERLIN, 20 (ANSA) – The European Central Bank (ECB) is preparing a hypothetical Greek exit from the euro, wrote today the German weekly Der Spiegel.
According to the magazine, the ECB would be making preparations include simulations of how it would affect the eventual “Grexit” to other countries in the euro area and plans to have them all together, if not reach agreement with Athens.
Der Spiegel also wrote that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) considers that the eventual exit of Greece would be sustainable for countries in the single currency. And the euro area, with the security measures taken in recent years, would be sheltered from a contagion effect.
“The Greeks moved daily 1,000 million euros abroad,” the German magazine. Next February 28 current plan expires on financial assistance from eurozone partners to Athens. I
