A call from hardliners within the ruling party Coalition of the Radical Left in Greece (Syriza) not to pay the next payment to the International Monetary Fund and nationalize the country’s banks was defeated by a narrow margin.
The central committee rejected the proposal Syriza Platform Left party by a vote of 95-75 and one blank vote. Another 30 members of the central committee of 201 members had already left their cities of residence.
