The ultimatum expired on Thursday (24.03. 2016), but judge Charles Breyer, who concentrates the hundreds of civil lawsuits filed in the US against the German automaker Volkswagen scandal cars equipped with software that manipulates its emissions, decided to extend the deadline for the company to find a solution until next April 21, in response to the progress shown in the negotiations.

at a hearing in San Francisco, the German manufacturer and the Department of Justice told Breyer that keep intense negotiations to reach an agreement that remedy the problem, which affects 580,000 vehicles in the United States. The idea is to re-equip all cars affected. Although not found a definitive solution, the parties have themselves stated that the talks are on track.

“In consideration of the progress they give to the conflicting parties time to the next meeting, “Breyer said during the hearing. However, it was clear in stating that the hearing scheduled for April 21 “specific and detailed plans” to solve the fakery of diesel engines adapted to violate environmental laws must be submitted. Otherwise, the court seriously evaluate the possibility of initiating a process by mid-year.

As if the problems of the largest automaker in Germany were no longer sufficient, this Thursday I called for revision to 800,000 cars by technical problems. In addition to Volkswagen, Porsche subsidiary was also affected by the measure. It is specifically for the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne models, which must pass a technical inspection after detecting faults in the system pedals.

According to the company, the problem was found in some internal testing and repair workshop will take half an hour. In Germany alone it is estimated to have affected some 58,000 vehicles. The decision follows the recall issued on Wednesday to 177,000 vehicles in its model Passat due to electronic failures that can cause the engine to stop working.
