MADRID (Reuters) – International tourists spent in Spain in June 7.871 million euros, representing an increase of 12.7 percent, according to a survey National Statistics Institute (INE) published on Friday that showed the great moment of boom in the tourism sector.
During the first half of the year, total spending increased by 8.2 percent over the same period last year, reaching 32.685 million euros.
the growth of spending in June was in line with the increase in the number of tourists that month to Spain, which expects to record this year a new visitor record in 2015 after reaching a record high of 68.1 million.
the average expenditure per tourist in June stood at 1,038 euros, one euro more than a year ago, while the average duration travel of international tourists was 7.7 days, one tenth less than the average of June last year.
the British were responsible for 23 percent of total expenditure, while the Germans assumed 14.8 percent and France 6.8 percent.
Baleares was the main destination of spending in June, with 23.7 percent of the total, followed by Catalonia (22.2 percent) and Andalusia (14.8 percent).
