Unemployment in the UK fell by 52,000 between April and June 2016, and stood at 4.9%, the National Statistics Office (ONS, in English) reported today. The figure includes both those who benefit from unemployment benefits and those who do not.
It reached 1.64 million in the quarter quoted. That figure reflects a drop of 52,000 from the previous quarter and down 207,000 from the same period in 2015.
According to the ONS, the total number of unemployed in the UK is now at its level lowest in eight years, while the rate of paralysis is at its lowest level since the summer of 2005.
the office also indicated that the number of people targeted to unemployment during July , subsequent to the triumph of Brexit in the referendum on the European Union (EU) month was 763,000, 8,600 less than the previous month.
Other data released today was on wages, which rose 2.4% during the three months compared to the same period in 2015.
