The Gross domestic Product (GDP) of France fell by 0.1% in the second quarter of the year, the first contraction quarterly since 2013, announced Friday the French statistics institute (Insee), which revised down its first figure of 0%.
The institute explained the revision by the fall in the consumption of the households, which yielded 0.1% in the second quarter after having grown up in the first (+1,1%). In the first three months of the year the GDP had grown 0.7%.
A source from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, told the AFP that this review “does not invalidate the scenario of a growth of 1.5% this year and next year.”
