Fitbit has taken a further step to maintain the good position that maintains in the market of smart devices. A report of The Information ensures that the company is about to close the acquisition of Pebble, the company known for the manufacture of smartwatches with e-ink screen.

The source says that Fitbit has the intention of becoming the intellectual property of Pebble and its operating system, although it would get rid of the mark, that could cease to exist during the coming months.

The Information ensures that Fitbit would be offering “a small amount” by Pebble, a company that has months looking for a buyer, and that since the beginning of the year, has laid off 25 percent of its staff.

According to The Verge, at the beginning of 2016 the chief executive of Pebble, Eric Migicovsky, said that the company was a little “tight” money, much to the chagrin of the funding rounds closed earlier and which amounted then to US$ 26 million.

the Pebble was born as a project to Kickstarter in 2012, and had a good reception on the part of users, in a time in which there was neither the Apple Watch nor Android devices Wear. For his part, though Fitbit has had ups and downs thanks to the warm reception of your watch Blaze, the company remains among the leaders in its segment.

A recent survey puts Fitbit is among the brands that users want to find under the Christmas tree, while IDC ensures that by 2020 there will continue to be a major hand-in-hand with a brand are less traditional on this side of the planet, Xiaomi.

The latest releases of Pebble were the Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2 and the Pebble Core, which arrived in stores earlier this year. Below I leave you a gallery of photos, for the memory of that might be the last devices under this brand.

CNET in Spanish contacted Fitbit and Pebble, although none of the companies was immediately available for a comment.
