Spain was the country of the European Union (EU) where the most construction output rose in the second quarter, it recorded an increase of 7%, according to early estimates by the Community Office Eurostat statistics published today.
Spain was also the fourth EU country with the largest annual construction output in June, an increase of 6.8%.
however , in the monthly comparison, the country registered a decline of 2.9% compared to May, the second largest decline in Veintiocho.
In the whole of the EU and the eurozone, production in the construction fell by 0.6% in both zones in the second quarter.
Opposite May, construction output fell in June by 0.3% in the EU and 0.7% in the euro area .
In annual terms, construction output fell 0.5% in the EU and 2.3% in the euro area.
The decrease of 0, 7% in construction in the eurozone in June compared to the previous month was due to a decrease in building construction (0.9%) and civil engineering (0.5%).
In the EU, the decline of 0.3% originated in the fall of 0.5% in the construction of buildings and 0.2% in civil engineering, according to Eurostat.
Older declines in construction output were recorded in Hungary (7.5%), Spain (2.9%), Romania (2.6%) and Slovakia (2.3%), while the largest increases observed in Poland (2.7%), Germany (1.2%) and the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom (1.1% in both cases).
From year to year, the decrease of 2.3% in construction in the eurozone in June was due to a decrease in buildings (2%) and civil engineering (3.4%).
In the manifold Community, falling 0.5% is based on a 0.2% decrease in building construction and 2.7% in civil engineering.
