Spain exceeded 36.3 million foreign tourists until July , which is an increase of 7% over the same period last year , according to the Survey Frontier Tourist Movement (Frontur) broadcast Friday by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.
In fact, in July the international tourist arrivals grew by 5.9%, to 8.3 million, this being the second best figure in history , surpassed only by August 2013, moved on Thursday the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria.
As of July almost all major emitting countries contributed to this growth, as United Kingdom, Germany and especially France , which contributed more than half a million additional tourists.
So UK a month stood as the most relevant market in 23.3% of all entries , up to 8.4 million visitors and an increase of 5 , 5%.
Germany was the second market that provided more non-residents to total growth, with about 5.8 million tourists and an increase of 6.6%, followed by France, with over 5.6 million visitors, an increase of 10.8%.
Nordic countries, the fourth most important market , increased 7.8% in the first seven months of 2014, like the Netherlands, which grew 4.9%
Also noteworthy increases the Belgian market, which rose 19%, the largest increase.; Italy, with an increase of 13%, and the Swiss market, which achieved a growth of 10.7%.
In contrast, the Russian market fell by 3.8%, with 806,843 tourists until July due to the devaluation of the ruble. In July alone, the decline was 2.1%, as announced Soria.
Catalunya, ahead of visitors
Among the autonomous communities, Catalunya, with a rise of 5.7%, captured the highest percentage of foreign visitors with the arrival of 9.2 million, 25.6% of the total , followed by Canary, an increase of 11.8% and 18% of total arrivals to 6.5 million.

Hotel stays fall in July but grow throughout the year
Registered overnight stays in hotel establishments during last July have fallen 0.2% from the same month of 2013, to 37.5 million, although in the first seven months of the year kept an increase 2.8% compared to the same period of 2013.
According to the survey of Tourist situation (INE), the overnight stays of resident travelers in Spain rose by 2.9%, compared with a decline of 1.8% of the foreigners, and the average stay was 3.8 nights per visitor, 2.6% less than in July 2013.
The main destinations for Spaniards were Andalusia, Valencia, Catalonia and the Canary Islands , regions that have experienced a percentage change of 2.2% -0.8%, 10% and 7.1%, respectively.
These four communities account for more than 50% of overnight stays of Spanish travelers.
As for foreigners, mostly chose Baleares, Catalonia and Canary-regions accounting for 68% of the total and in all of them the rate of change compared with July last year was negative, with falls of 4.7%, 6.7% and 7.7%, respectively.
Germans and British are still the most opt for a hotel, with 47% of total overnight stays, although in July stays from the UK market fell by 3.8% and German 7.9%.
This month the supply of places covered by 65.6%, up 0.4% from a year earlier, although occupancy fell Weekend 0.5% to 69.9% of the total.
