The company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) confirmed Thursday it has reached an agreement with the Slovak Government to build a local transport system with high-speed technology and Hyperloop -hiperbucle- will end its first section in 2020, reports CNET portal.
Hyperloop could connect the Slovak city of Bratislava and Vienna (Austria) which is far about 80 kilometers drive- in eight minutes to get to Budapest (Hungary), which is about 200 kilometers by road in 10 minutes. Currently, these train journeys lasting 60 and just over 120 minutes, respectively. Furthermore, it could also link the two ends of Slovakia, a route that today requires four and a half hours by car.
“This system would redefine the concept of passenger transport and boost cross-border cooperation in Europe” , said the Minister of Economy of Slovakia, Vazil Hudak. For its part, the CEO of HTT, Dirk Ahlborn, has mentioned that could be used “in other regions of the world,” but did not disclose more details about its possible location.
In addition, a spokesman for the company stated that “the following steps [for the construction of Hyperloop] are to” identify the perfect route “and specify” requirements of construction “and added that it is expected that the project will be financed through an agreement in which involving the public sector and private initiative.
Conceived by Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and creator of the electric car Tesla, this transport operation is based on a tube, through which several modules move to passengers at very high speeds on a kind of air mattress. Is expected to revolutionize the long distance transport and reduce drastically the time paths.
For now, the prospects that this project will become a reality limited to the area of Quay Valley ( California, United States), which may operate within about 36 months.
