31 Starting tomorrow, September 1, 2016, shall be prohibited the manufacture and marketing of bulbs halogen in the territory of the European Union, may sell only those who are left “in stock” in stores and warehouses, continuing restrictions on devices inefficient lighting as the incandescent bulbs traditional , banned for years.
the reason for the ban is the bet of the Union for more energy efficiency and savings . Halogen bulbs, but turn out to be cheaper in the purchase, are very inefficient as energy expenditure is concerned and Member States agreed in 2009 prohibit the marketing of September 2016 onwards. The bulbs (not spotlights) Halogen may be marketed until 2018.
The Union and aims to advance its goal of reducing the energy deficit, estimated to be one billion euro a day in import costs of electricity. Community authorities favor the installation of energy efficient lighting, such as LED bulbs and spotlights
