BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Commission decided Wednesday to not suspend the european funds for Spain and Portugal, the year that comes after the breach of the budgetary rules in a new sample of a fiscal policy to be more accommodating.
“The event demanded a Commission proposal to suspend part of the Funds European Structural and Investment already is not present and there is no such proposal,” said the Commission in a note, adding that the penalty procedure “shall be suspended”.
During the summer, the EU also decided not to impose fines on Spain and Portugal within the same procedure of penalties for their excessive budget deficits and the lack of corrections to time of the fiscal gap.
