Danone announced Tuesday that it will appeal the fine imposed by the National Commission of Markets and Competition ( CNMC), a sanction which respects but which “strongly disagree absolutely,” according to Europa Press have pointed to company sources, which have underlined their commitment to farmers within the law.
CNMC has imposed fines totaling 88.2 million euros to nine companies and two associations operating in the market for supply of raw cow’s milk in Spain for participating in “anti-competitive behavior infringing competition law.”
This fine is the fourth largest amount imposed by competition throughout its history, affecting Danone, the more liable to 23.2 million euros.
Sources Danone have argued that they have always acted in defense of competition and within the law. They have stressed their commitment to farmers and with long-term contracts with industry
