MADRID / LISBON (Reuters) – The banking group CaixaBank presented last January an offer to Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos to buy its stake from 18.6 percent in the BPI lusa and take control of the bank, said a person familiar with the offer.

last year, CaixaBank launched a bid for the 56 percent it does not control in its lusa owned at a price of 1.329 euros per share, but Dos Santos then declined.
the two investors face a dispute months of the current statutes that limit the voting rights to a maximum of 20 percent. The limitation, that the managers of BPI have attempted to revoke basically currently provides almost the same voice to Dos Santos and CaixaBank.
A second source from Lisbon said talks between CaixaBank and Dos Santos on BPI included several scenarios and everything was still open.
CaixaBank did not comment on the information as it was not possible to contact immediately with the holding company of Dos Santos, Santoro.
the quote BPI was suspended this morning awaiting a communication from the bank after published on the alleged interest of the Spanish bank to raise its position news.
if you receive an affirmative answer, CaixaBank should launch a takeover bid supervening on its Portuguese investee, which currently controls 44 percent
