prices of pork rose sharply by 28.4 percent year on year, contributing 0.64 percentage points to CPI growth, while the vegetables soared 35.8 percent, representing 0.92 percentage points in the CPI growth.
prices food registered an increase of 7.6 percent, while non-food inflation rose 1 percent in March.
Since January, the CPI data are calculated with a new comparative basis that takes into account new products and services, reflecting a change in consumption patterns. The adjustment fell slightly the weight of food, representing almost a third in the CPI calculation above.
The producer price index (PPI), which measures wholesale inflation, fell by 4 , 3 percent year on year in March, compared to the 4.9 percent fall recorded in February and 5.3 percent in January.
However, the PPI rose 0.5 percent month in March, the first increase every month since January 2014.
