Spending by tourists in Spain exceeds 10,000 billion in July – Investing.com Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – International tourists spent in Spain in July 10.257 million euros, representing an increase of 7.0 percent, according to a survey by the National Statistics Institute (INE) published on Tuesday showed the great moment of boom in the tourism sector.

During the first seven months of 2016 the total expenditure increased by 7.9 percent over the same period of the year earlier, reaching 42.942 million euros.

the growth of spending in July was in line with the sharp increase (9.3 percent) of tourist visits to Spain in July, which expects to record this year a new visitor record in 2015 after reaching a record high of 68.1 million.

the average expenditure per tourist stood at 1,072 euros, with an annual decline of 2.1 percent, while the average daily spending rose by 5.5 percent to 130 euros.

the main countries in the level of spending in July are the United Kingdom (with 21.7 percent of the total) , Germany (12.8 percent) and France (9.6 percent).

Spain is the third largest tourist destination in the world behind France and the United States, a sector that contributes about 11 percent of GDP and is one of the main generators of employment
