Down 3% sales of Volkswagen in north America – The Sun of Puebla

north America continues to represent a challenge for Volkswagen. Its sales in this market-formed by Mexico, the united States and Canada decreased during the first 11 months of the year 3.3 per cent, compared with the same period of the previous year.

The German mark reported in his last report, made public yesterday, that only one month of end of 2016 managed to sell around the world 5 million 419 thousand 900 cars, 84 thousand 200 more than in the same period of 2015. This increase translated into a positive variation of 1.6 percent.

This rise was not reflected, however, in the north american market. In Mexico, the united States and Canada, Volkswagen handed over between January and November 521 thousand 700 units, 3.3 less than during the first 11 months of last year, when the automaker sold 539 thousand, 300 of the same segment.

While in Mexico, the marketing grew, according to figures from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), 13.8 percent from the first 11 months of the year and the same period of 2015, in the neighboring country, according to Volkswagen of America, declined 10.29 percent.

Although the annual balance was negative, the marketing of Volkswagen in north America rebounded in November to 15.3 percentage points. Only in the past month the firm managed to sell 51 thousand 400 cars.

At a global level, and despite the trade contraction experienced in Europe and South america, the brand headed by Matthias Müller handed over also in the eleventh month of the year 533 thousand 500 vehicles, almost 8 percentage points more than in November of 2015.

"Taking into account the market environment as challenging an increase of 7.5 percent is a respectable result. The trademark Volkswagen is well under way and will end in 2016 so remarkable," stressed Jürgen Stackmann, member of the steering in the segment of sales, through a statement released by Volkswagen.
