New sentences in the United States by the Madoff scam – La Vanguardia

New York, December 15 (EFE) .- Three former employees of Bernard Madoff exfinanciero received various prison terms for their involvement in the largest Ponzi scheme in Wall Street history, officials said.

Federal prosecutors in the southern district of New York, where the cause is carried, said in a statement that the new sentences in this case affect Joann Cruppi, Jerome O’Hara and George Perez.

Crupi, who managed millions of dollars in “fictitious investments,” according to prosecutors, was sentenced today to six years in prison.

Meanwhile, Perez and O’Hara, who worked for Madoff as programmers, were each sentenced to two and a half years in prison, the first Wednesday and the second the previous day, said today the prosecution.

Last Tuesday was already reported that the former Secretary of Madoff Annette Bongiorno had been sentenced to six years in prison for the same reason, while the December 8 the former director of operations for investments Daniel Bonventre was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Madoff has said repeatedly times since the first interrogation that neither his family nor his employees were aware of fraud orchestrated.

Since 2009 the exfinanciero is serving 150 years in prison in North Carolina (USA) for the fraud, who authorities exceeded 65,000 million, over 50,000 encrypted by the scammer.
