MEXICO CITY standard employment model is becoming less representative of the world of work: only a quarter of the world’s workers has a stable employment relationship that is, full-time contract and a dependent wage an employer, reveals a new report by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The Social Outlook report and Employment in the World 2015, it shows that in the countries for which data are available (covering 84 percent of the working population in the world), three-quarters of the workers are employed either on temporary contracts or short-term .
The document that Mexico was ahead of The Financial, indicates that more than 60 percent of all workers lacks any type of contract Work ; most of them are employees or self-employment as auxiliaries in the developing world family workers. However, even among the employees, 42 percent have a permanent contract.
The first edition of this new annual report, entitled “Employment in full mutation,” it shows that while wage and salaried work is increasing in the world, still represents only half of global employment.
Another trend is the increase in part-time work, especially among young women. In most countries with information available, part-time jobs grew faster than full-time jobs between 2009 and 2013.
“These new data indicate a working world increasingly diversified . In some cases, atypical forms of employment can help people to enter the labor market. But these emerging trends are also a reflection of the widespread insecurity that affects many workers in the world today “said ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder.
