Ana Pastor and President Varela fly Canal Expansion – La Estrella de Panama

The Spanish Minister of Public Works in office, Ana Pastor, on an official two-day visit to Panama, flew over the new locks on the extended channel, accompanied by President Juan Carlos Varela and Minister Roberto Roy.

Pleased, the official said that the mega-project, which has involved the Spanish company Sacyr, demonstrates the country’s economic growth and opens the opportunity to generate profits to world trade and the Panamanian people.

Pastor, that he personally brokered during the most contentious stage of the works of the canal expansion, in 2014, he highlighted the “Spanish accent” of important infrastructure and applauded its early opening, announced on June 26.

According to the Minister of Public Works, the interest of Spanish companies in Panama will continue and the level of investment in the country, the second largest among international partners, not be seen affected by interdicts as the recent scandal of the firm Mossack Fonseca.
