The economy maintained strong growth at the beginning of the year – Investing.com Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – The Spanish economy began the year had ended 2015, keeping one in the first three months of 2016, according to final data presented Thursday by the National Statistics Institute ( INE).

in annual terms, the Spanish Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 3.4 percent year on year.

the data were in line with preliminary estimates by the INE announced in late April and the forecasts of economists polled by Reuters.

INE stressed that the espñola economñia offset the contraction of external demand (-0.4 percent) with increased demand national (+3.8 percent).

in the fourth quarter of 2015, quarterly growth was also 0.8 percent, while the annual figure was 3.5 percent.

for the whole of 2016, the Spanish government expects growth of 2.7 percent GDP.
