Wall repair work in Miraflores Locks making good progress – Telemetro

The repair work on a section of the south wall east side wing of the Miraflores Locks, making good progress and it is estimated that could be completed in four or five weeks, as reported Monday the Panama Canal authority (ACP).

the entity indicates that after a series of studies with specialized sonar equipment tridimensional, made by geotechnical experts and engineers from other disciplines, was achieved confirm that the structure is safe, solid and stable, also from Sunday May 29 and Monday, have made progress in the construction of a landfill that will stabilize the area where the collapse of the wall occurred and logistics provision equipment and filler materials.

Adds the wall, early Sunday came off, it was built as a closure structure to hold the ground against the original slope of the banks , ensuring that no part of the main structure of the lock.

on the other hand, the ACP reiterates that have taken the necessary measures to ensure the safety of operations, which they continue with perfectly normal.
