Facebook and Microsoft deploying next-generation submarine cable – Diez.hn

Facebook and Microsoft have partnered to deploy a submarine cable art a data centers on both sides of the Atlantic, for what have the collaboration of the Spanish Telefonica, they reported today the companies.

the project has been dubbed “Tide” and will have the capacity to transmit 160 terabits per second, 16 million times faster than a home Internet connection, making it the transatlantic cable with the wider band there.

the infrastructure will be managed by the company Telxius Telecom recently launched by Telefónica.

with the unstoppable growth of internet giants like Facebook, these companies are looking for ways to control the infrastructure used to connect their datacenters and operate more efficiently.

the submarine cable is expected to be operational in October 2017 and your traffic will give priority to the needs of Facebook and Microsoft.
