BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The regulators of the jurisdiction of the European Union opened on Thursday, three investigations to a group of electronics manufacturers, including Philips (AS:), six companies of video games, Thomas Cook (LON:) and three other tour operators under suspicion of blocking cross-border sales online.
The initiative, which also affects the hotel chain Meliá (MC:), comes after an investigation of nearly two years by the European Commission on the e-commerce industry, which showed that there are restrictions unfair generalized in the block of 28 countries.
“The three open investigations by the Commission today are designed to address specific aspects of the restrictions retail prices, discrimination on the basis of the place and geobloqueo,” said the regulator of the competence of the EU in a statement.
