As was made public, Brussels criticises the fact that Spain is the third EU country with the lowest income by taxation green.
In particular, in 2014 the environmental taxes accounted for 1.85 per cent of Gross domestic Product (GDP), while the european average is 2,46%.
According to the Commission, it is also an “error” to be taxed less fuel oil, more polluting than gasoline, which has caused a “dieselización of the fleet” above the european average.
“Spain still subsidises fossil fuels, the local coal, the company cars and diesel with respect to gasoline,” the report states.
