Uber plans to create cars flying – Infobae.com

Uber is determined to delve into the universe of the flying automobiles. Proof of this is that it recruited Mark Moore, a former aeronautical engineer for NASA, to work on the development of vehicles that can take off and land vertically (VTOL, for its acronym in English).

Moore, in 2010, did research on the VTOL and predicted that it could replace ground vehicles, according to published Bloomberg.

Moore will work in Uber Elevate, the division that will manufacture these vehicles for the future, which would be used to facilitate the transfer within the cities and the suburbs.

One of the challenges will be the construction of landing zones in the city (Uber Elevate)

“aviation on demand has the potential to radically improve urban mobility, as it will return to the people of the time who loses usually going from one site to another”, highlighted in a document published by Uber.

“Uber is aware of the discomfort suffered by the citizens all over the world when they move through the city. To solve this problem is fundamental to our mission and our commitment to our users,” he notes.

Uber estimates that the first tests would be made in 2025. Of course by then it will solve several issues.

on the one hand, keep in mind that Uber is not going to manufacture these cars, but refer this task to another company. There will be to choose the right partner, and to seek the necessary funding for this ambitious project.

you’ll Also need to consider the development of batteries with sufficient autonomy to cover different routes and taking the necessary measures to prevent noise pollution. In turn, it will be vital to build spaces of landings for the VTO.

on the other hand are the regulations that govern the airspace. As happened with the drones, be adjusted to the legal measures in force to be able to circulate without inconvenience. Live in harmony in the air will be the new challenge for the coming years.

Uber is not the only company that is betting on flying cars. Google and Airbus are also investing in projects of this type to be able to release them as soon as possible to the market.

there are Even startups like AeroMobil and Terrafugia that have been working on prototypes of vehicles flying from 2014.

The race to conquer the skies with flying cars is already raised. It will be a matter of seeing who gets there first.
