The European Union has been a decade of tug-of-war to remove the roaming in its territory. Last night finally reached an agreement. The date we had: June 15, 2017. Now we know the final prices that the operators charge each other so that you will not find with surcharges.
Thanks to this agreement, the consumer may call, send SMS and navigate with our mobile in the 28 member countries of the European Union for the rate you already pay at home. To 15 June, ahead of the consumer, the roaming as such will have disappeared within Europe.
What you’ll pay if you spend
The most important: how much you’ll pay if you exceed the limit of your contract? The agreement provides that the additional charges in roaming, not to exceed the wholesale prices to be charged between the various operators:
- up to 3.2 cents per minute voice calls, to June 15, 2017
- 1 cent per SMS, to June 15, 2017
- A gradual reduction every 5 years of the data limits, that will pass of 7.7 euros per GB (June 15, 2017) to 6 euros per GB (from 1 January 2018), to 4.5 euros per GB (from 1 January 2019), 3.5 € per GB (as of 1 January 2020), 3 euros per GB (from 1 January 2021) and 2.5 euros per GB (from 1 January 2022).
the only requirement for The client is to reside (or to keep some kind of link) in the country where you hire the moving line. For example, a Portuguese will not be able to hire the rate of 20 GB of Yoigo if you do not live in Spain.
The agreement will lay the foundation of the aimed European Single Market in Telecommunications. The prices fall below the initial proposal of the European Commission (8,5 euros per GB) and the European Council (cap declining from € 10 per GB up to 5 euros in 2021), but above that requested by the European Parliament (cap of 5 euros per GB in June 2017 and 1 euro in 2021).
