The Spanish Civil Guard announced Monday the arrest of 18 people linked to a network of child pornography and identification of 16 victims, including two in Colombia, as part of a multinational operation that included several Latin American countries.
authorities recovered “hundreds of thousands of child pornographic files” in a series of house searches in Spain. The analysis of the material identified 16 child victims of sexual abuse, 14 of them in Spain and two in Colombia, the statement of the Civil Guard.
“Several children were manipulated by adults to be recorded abusing other children, in order to further distribution by pedophile networks on the Internet, “it said.
the operation in Spain culminated with the arrest of 18 people suspected April participate in the distribution of images, while other six are as investigated but not arrest, a spokesman for the force said.
the Spanish authorities were alerted by Interpol of a group of people who shared the images and videos of sexual abuse through exchange networks online known as P2P ( “peer-to-peer”).
the first phase of “Operation Without borders”, coordinated by Interpol fifteen countries, mostly Latin American, won last December the arrest of 60 people and the seizure of large amount of child pornography.
the Civil Guard said it continues to analyze the images in order to identify new victims.
