A new global brand name "Lynk & Co.," developed by the parent company of Volvo, China’s Geely Automobile, will begin its sales in the united States and in Europe in 2018.
The first model will be an SUV developed with Volvo, and will be available after the release of the vehicles in China late next year.
The brand has been called Lynk, to emphasize that their models offer a high level of connectivity, including the possibility that the owners can earn money by sharing their vehicles with others, when they’re not needed.
The first model to be sold is a compact SUV that will be called Lynk 01 and it will be a hybrid powered by a gasoline engine three-cylinder 1.5-liter and an electric motor mated to a manual transmission or an automatic gearbox double-clutch seven-speed.

Lynk plans to add a compact sedan and other models to its line. Will have numeric names including 02 and 03. Also plans to offer plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.
The Lynk 01 is based on the platform compact modular architecture developed by Geely and Volvo in Sweden. Volvo will use the platform to renew his compact line of advance in the models of concept 40.1 and 40.2.
40.1 a compact SUV will become the XC40 for the production and is scheduled to be launched late next year.
The brand Lynk will keep the prices low, offering a limited number of equipment versions, instead of the models base, with a long list of options that add to the cost of manufacturing, through the creation of a large number of configurations in its construction.
Inspired by the industries of fashion and technology, Lynk has replaced the equipment levels and the lists of options with a small selection of collections at a fixed price, fully equipped and oriented to meet the preferences of the client.
All models will come with a large touch screen and telematics systems central, that will always be connected to the Internet and with the own network of wi fi in the car.
An action button will allow the owner to provide others with access to the vehicle through a digital key that can be shared. The owners can use the application Lynk to contr ol and monitor their vehicle from a smartphone or directly from the car.
The automaker said that the vehicles will be delivered directly to the purchaser and will be collected from the owner when they need a service.
