Uk gives green light to a new runway at Heathrow – Investing.com Spain

LONDON (Reuters) – the United Kingdom gave the Tuesday approval to the construction of a new track of 22,000 million dollars in Heathrow airport in london, ending with 25 years of indecision for a plan that wants to push the ambitions of global trade of the country after the vote in favour of leaving the European Union.

at Heathrow, the airport with most traffic in Europe, fought with his rival Gatwick, after successive governments failed to take a decision on a new runway due to protests and environmental policies.

The Government said in its press release Tuesday that he will propose limits of noise legally binding, among them the ban on night flights for six hours and a half, to appease the locals of the area. Many of them have opposed the expansion, concerns about air and noise pollution.

The project is likely to face legal challenges and a vote in parliament in the period of one year, which means that the new track would open up as very soon in 2025.

“The scheme preferred by the Government will be subject to a full and fair public consultation,” said the Transport minister, Chris Grayling, in its press release.

The granting of Heathrow has a holding company participated by the Spanish Ferrovial (MC:).

After a reaction to the upside with the first news about the expansion that appeared on Tuesday in newspapers, their titles down 0.8 percent at 1331 hours.
