The edition 2016 Farnborough Air Show generated 123.900 billion in orders and commitments for the closure of the professional conferences, organizers announced the Saturday.
That number “exceeds expectations,” according to the organization, despite not having reached a record 204 billion recorded in the last edition, two years ago.
In detail provided to AFP, orders and MoUs include 856 machines worth about 94,000 million dollars, 1,407 engines per 22,700 million and other agreements, worth 7,200 million.
on Thursday, the director commercial of Airbus, John Leahy, had announced to present the balance of the European aircraft manufacturer 35.000 billion in sales, of which 25.300 billion in firm orders for 279 devices. the other giant, the US Boeing announced 182 sales worth 26,800 million, of which 19,000 correspond to new orders.
the two manufacturers showed their optimism about the market outlook for the next 20 years, focusing both in emerging countries, particularly in Asia, and in the low-cost.
The hall hosted an average of 20,000 visitors daily Monday through Thursday, reserved for professional conferences, air shows before the weekend aimed at the general public.
“The bad weather was an additional challenge, but that has not stopped our exhibitors and visitors (…) The aerospace industry has a bright future ahead,” said CEO Hall, Shaun Ormrod.
