WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Job growth in the US rose more than expected in June due to increased hiring in the sector manufacturing, another sign that the economy has regained momentum after a lull in the first quarter, official data showed.
nonfarm payrolls rose by 287,000 jobs last month, the biggest increase since October 2015, the Labor Department said Friday. The May figure was revised down to only 11,000 jobs from the 38,000 previously reported.
The unemployment rate rose two tenths to 4.9 percent, but that was because more people entered workforce, in a sign of confidence in the labor market.
Economists polled by Reuters projected that non-farm payrolls to rise by 175,000 in June and the unemployment rate to rise a tenth to 4 ., 8 percent
