BEIJING, 19 oct (Xinhua) — industrial production in China grew six percent during the first three quarters of the year, due largely to the strong performance of the sectors of high technology and equipment manufacturing, show official data published today, Wednesday.

This rate of growth was unchanged relative to that in the first half of the year, said the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

industrial production, officially called the “industrial value added”, is used to measure the activity of certain large companies with an annual turnover of at least 20 million yuan (2,97 billion).

In September, industrial production rose 6.1 percent year-on-year, with what he failed to achieve the forecasts of 6.4 percent and was below the 6.3 per cent recorded in August.

The increase of the country’s industrial production was largely driven by the sectors of high technology, and manufacturing equipment, which experienced a rapid development.

The industrial production of these two sectors increased by 10.6 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively, during the first three quarters, well above the overall growth.

These two sectors contributed 12.2 percent and 32.6 percent, respectively, to the total industrial output of China during the first nine months of 2016.

After more than a decade of double-digit growth, the annual growth of the country’s industrial production slowed to 8.3 per cent in 2014 and to 6.1 percent in 2015, due to the economic pressures of the low.

The gross domestic product of China recorded a growth of 6.7 percent in the third quarter, the same as that in the second quarter, pointing to data from the NBS.
