Madrid, Sep 24 (EFE) .- The home sales soared 12% in the second quarter compared to the same period of 2013, the second consecutive quarterly rise experiencing this indicator and the second best quarter since 2010, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Development.

In the second quarter, the number of operations amounted to 91,338, 12.2% more than in the first three months of the year, a fact that the ministry considered representative since these two terms are not influenced for tax changes.

In fact, to find a second quarter with more transactions must go back to the fourth quarter of 2010, when 150,494 were counted.

After four consecutive quarters of falls interannual property transactions rose 48.5% between January and March this year, marking the largest historical rise of this indicator and was interpreted as the beginning of a turnaround.

Meanwhile the second-hand housing, with 77,042 transactions, accounted for 84.3% of the total.

With regard to the nationality of the buyer, transactions by foreign residents in Spain experienced an annual growth for the twelfth consecutive quarter, ie by 20% to 14,952 trades.

Together, you make the purchases by foreigners (residents and nonresidents) reached 16,154, 17.7% the total and record.

By provinces, those with the highest number of purchases by foreign residents were Alicante (3,993), Málaga (2,222), Barcelona (1317), Tenerife (987) and Madrid (933 .)

Analyzing the behavior of the last 12 months, five autonomous communities and two autonomous cities registered a positive performance in sales: the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, Madrid, Cataluña, Baleares and Navarra.
