The OECD praised the improving economy but calls keep … – Cadena Ser

The Spanish economy is improving. It is what the OECD concluded in his report, but need to deepen these achievements. the reforms already undertaken must be maintained. As of now, the agency has proposed to the Government to improve productivity and competitiveness support jobs and recovery “reaches all” .

The OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria said that Spain should “stay the course and implement measures against unemployment” to strengthen the economic recovery. “You must focus your efforts on the recovery to be sustained,” said during the presentation of the biennial report submitted along with the Minister of Economy and Competitiveness Luis de Guindos, the Spanish economy.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has recommended to the Spanish government to reduce the debt and restore a balanced budget with a shift in taxation. To do this, he urged the executive Rajoy to lower direct taxation , income tax, and increase the indirect , ie VAT, lowering social contributions for workers less qualified.

To create high quality employment and well-paid , the OECD proposes a shift to economic growth based on knowledge in R & D.

Changes from the recommendations of two years

The OECD and the Ministry of Economy does agree in their diagnosis: the situation in Spain is no longer the same two years ago when the OECD published its previous biennial report on Spain. Moreover, the general secretary of internaiconal organsimo congratulated the Spanish government for what has been achieved with reforms.

“We want, first, congratulated on the progress experienced so far . Secondly, let them appeal to keep pace and direction. And third, the last post, who have the OECD to continue to accompany that effort, “said Secretary General of the OECD.

The OECD and the Ministry of Economy have revealed that the economy grows, jobs are created and that the banking system has stabilized . The OECD has improved its forecasts for the Spanish economy, but are a little below those who had prepared the Spanish government.

As for the OECD recommendations to Spain, are not as clear as two years ago, because the problems are not as severe as the words of Gurría . The central message of the Secretary General of the OECD is that “we must stay the course and pace of reforms.”

To do this, you have to stimulate employment and growth, but the proposed formulas are both diffuse: improve active employment policies and raise the quality of innovation . In this line, we see a radical change: The OECD proposed two years ago that facilitate the pick companies of collective agreements (for not taking pay raises, for example)

<. p> now proposes just the opposite : Gurría has revealed that Spain OECD recommends “requiring companies to adhere to sectoral collective agreements.” Because, according to this, “perhaps it has reached the limit and falling wages are no longer the best way to increase competitiveness.”

In fiscal matters proposed, as usual, less tax labor (income tax) , less social security contributions for low-skilled workers and more indirect taxation (VAT) . But Gurría himself has wryly that in the end, the Spanish government will do what is deemed necessary.
